Mission and Vision

Objective 1

1. Foster communication, collaboration, and mutual support in the spirit of collaborative ministry among diocesan leaders, professionals, and institutions engaged in ministry to and with Hispanic Youth and Young Adults.

Articulate a common vision and foster a sense of identity among leaders, professionals, and institutions that serve Hispanic Youth and Young Adults.

Encourage and promote, in collaboration with other institutions, the professional development and spiritual growth of those who work in Pastoral Juvenil Hispana as well as efforts and programs that aid Hispanic Youth and Young Adults in their vocational discernment process.

Facilitate the distribution of information regarding existing programs, resources, agencies, and specialists in the area of Pastoral Juvenil Hispana.

Establish a bridge between ecclesial and civic organizations that work with Hispanic Youth and Young Adults and with the Pastoral Juvenil in Latin America.

Commisions Purpose

LaRED provides a wide range of pastoral service to its members.

Spirituality and Liturgy

The Spirituality and Liturgy Commission’s mission is to emphasize and promote the encounter and the personal experience of the young person with Jesus leading them to be true disciples and missionaries of Christ. (The commission is open to any member of La RED).

Missionary Option

The Missionary Option Commission’s mission is to be the link between La RED and the Archdioceses / Dioceses to provide resources and opportunities to meet the needs of Hispanic youth and Young Adult Ministry and promote the mission of the Church. (The commission is open to any member of La RED).

Pastoral de Conjunto

The Pastoral de Conjunto Commission’s mission is to coordinate joint efforts with other commissions to provide the board and the membership of La RED a common vision toward the realization of Hispanic Youth and Young Adult Ministry in the United States. (It is open to any member of La RED).

Evangelization & Formation

The FormationCommittee’s mission is to facilitate the permanentoffering of resources and general guidelines of processes and training programs that meet the realities of the Hispanic young people in the United States. (This is a closed committee – Members are selected by invitation only).

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee provides financial oversight for La RED. It reviews proposed and actual budgets, engages in financial planning, financial reporting, and the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies. (This is a closed committee – Members are selected by invitation only).

Committee vs Commision

The committee works on specific processes related to the area of the committee and is composed of people with a specialization in the area of the committee. (Members are selected by invitation only).

The commission is open to any member of La RED, carries out the appropriate area based on the operating commission manual.

The borad members of la LaRED serve a three years period by elections of th emembership, the organization By Laws deliniate the terms, duities, and resposabilities of each position, see Resources in the membership site for more details.T

Adriana Visoso

President (2019-2022)

Adriana has worked diligently in Pastoral Juvenil ministry in the United States for over 26 years. She has been the Associate Director of Training Programs with the Instituto Fe y Vida for the past five years, but joined their staff in 1999.

José Julian is Executive Director for Missions at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX fostering formation of faith through University Ministry and various Marianist programs for students, staff, and faculty.

Marisally Santiago

Secretary (Interim)

Marisally is a passionate ministry leader. Currently she is based in Pennsylvania, where she is the Director of the Office of Ministry with Youth for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, PA.

Norma Velez de garcia

Tresurer (Interim)

Norma works as coordinator of Multicultural Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese of St. Augustine since 2006, and has been a board memeber since 2014.

Yazmín Maní

Member at Large (Iterim)

Yazmín has been involved with Pastoral Juvenil Hispana, Hispanic youth and young adult ministry, since February 2005. She’s has different leadership roles including director of religious education, youth minister and coordinator of PJH for the Austin Diocese.

Benito Medrano

Member at Large (iterim)

Benito has worked for the Office of Formation and Evangelization in the Diocese of Fresno in California since 2018. In his position he serves parish leaders of Pastoral Juvenil Hispana, youth and young adult ministry, and migrant ministry.

Roberto Navarro

Advisor

Roberto holds a Degree in Business Administration from St. Edward University, Austin, TX, and a Master’s degree in Theology and a Master’s degree in Pastoral Ministry from St. Mary’s University, San Antonio. TX. and completed courses and project towards a Doctor of Ministry with specialization in Adult Spiritual Formation at Catholic University of America, Washington, DC.

Advisor

Fr. Rafael Capó, the Vice President for Mission and Ministry and Dean of Theology at St Thomas University, is a priest of the Archdiocese of Miami and a Missionary of Mercy by appointment of Pope Francis. He formerly served as director of the Southeast Bishops Office for Hispanic Ministry (SEPI).
